HEIC to JPG: How to Convert iPhone Photos (Free)
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. The format saves storage space, but many Windows PCs, Android phones, websites and government portals can't open it. Converting to JPG fixes that.
Convert HEIC to JPG
- Open the HEIC to JPG converter.
- Add one or more HEIC photos.
- Press Convert and download your JPG files.
Need transparency or lossless quality? Use HEIC to PNG. Need a document? HEIC to PDF puts all your photos into one PDF.
HEIC vs JPG — what's the difference?
| HEIC | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| File size | About half of JPG | Larger |
| Compatibility | Apple devices, some apps | Works everywhere |
| Quality | Excellent | Excellent at high quality |
Stop your iPhone from saving HEIC
Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. Photos you've already taken stay HEIC, so convert those with the tool above.
Is quality lost?
At the default quality setting (92%) the difference is invisible to the eye. Increase the quality slider if you plan to print large.
